STAMEY'S OLD FASHIONED BARBECUE

2206 High Point Road

The Stamey family started barbecuing in Lexington. Can't ask for more authoritative heritage than that. Opened up Stamey's in Greensboro back in 1930.
That's the arched-roof, smoke-filled pit room to the far right. As majestic a pit room as you'll ever see. At least 8 pits. All cooking shoulders. The fire is started in a box out side and transferred by a very long handled shovel to each pit. Takes 9-10 hours to get the shoulders just right.
Stamey's serves their pork sandwich Lexington style, topped with red slaw
