Johnny's Hots has moved up town. That's his old location on right, a shack of a place. Directly above, Johnny's sparkling new digs, a couple of blocks north.
Same great grilled hot sausage. That's the breakfast version of the hot sausage above, mixed in with a fried egg and sauteed onions and green peppers. A fine breakfast.
Johnny is proud of his hot dogs too. "They make that bun just for me. It's like a dinner roll, not to crusty." He's right. It's the perfect hot dog bun.
The dog at the top is the Philadelphia Surf and Turf. A fish cake is grilled, split and mashed in with the dog. Thought that bit of tradition had died out when Levis' on 6th Street closed, but Johnny keeps it going.
Stopped by again. Johnny was boasting about his cheesesteak. Beef is prime, hanging beef, top round, from the meat wholesaler a block away. Sliced fresh each morning. Grilled and piled on a non-traditional torpedo roll. One of the best in the city.
