Pulling into my motel after the drive from Indianapolis, I was thinking it was about time for a balanced meal. Then I saw it. A billboard announcing a Dog N Suds 3/4 of a mile down the road. Maybe a balanced meal tomorrow.
A hit from the past. Dog N Suds are a midwest chain of hot dog drive-ins that I thought had pretty much faded away. Not the case in Terre Haute, at least. I had a chili dog, topped with a meaty chili and a coney island dog topped with secret coney island sauce which tastes surprisingly like a sloppy joe. I washed the dogs down with a mug of suds, their draft root beer, followed by and jumbo orange cream soda, soda pop that tastes like a creamcicle.
